Essay Week 3: What a Unit One

Week 2 and 3 Unit has been absolutely amazing, I am not sure that I will enjoy another unit more. There might even be a possibility that I found exactly what I am going to do for my Storybook project…but then again I might be getting a head of myself. There were so many good stories throughout this unit. Some were a little confusing at first, but were explained later as the reading continued. What I found to be the most difficult was choosing a story to use in my storytelling. I enjoyed all of the stories so much, and I am hoping that continues into the next unit.

For these two weeks I chose to read from the Bible. Now I might be a little prejudice but, I feel as though everyone grew up learning about aspects of the Bible in one way or another, so I do not believe that extra information would be necessary for these reading topics. Personally, I love reading Biblical stories because they have so much to teach about mankind and the flaws of people. I also really love how they tell you what people are actually thinking and feeling, instead of the “face” that people normal put up to mask themselves.

I do have to say that I am nervous for the units in the weeks to come. I was able to pick topics that I was somewhat familiar with for the first unit, but the same cannot be said of these next few units. I am hoping that I will be able to choose a topic that interests me and engages me in storytelling. It is nerve wrecking going into the next set of stories not knowing if one of them will be a perfect fit so your storytelling meshes well with your voice and the stories.
